Privacy Policy for DaNut
This Privacy Policy explains how DaNut ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and shares information when you use the DaNut mobile application (the "App").
DaNut is operated by SAMUEL EDWARD BOWEN.
1. Information We Collect
- Account Information: email address and account identifiers used for sign-in and account management.
- Profile Information: username and app settings you choose to save.
- Health and Fitness Information: nutrition logs, food entries, macro/micro nutrient data, goals, streaks, and body-weight entries.
- Photos: images you select or capture for nutrition label scanning.
- Advertising and Usage Data: data from ad SDKs such as device identifiers, product interaction events, advertising data, coarse location, crash data, and performance data.
2. How We Use Information
- Provide core app functionality (authentication, syncing, food logging, goals, and progress tracking).
- Operate and improve app performance, reliability, and security.
- Display and measure ads through third-party advertising partners.
- Support requested features such as nutrition label OCR.
3. Third-Party Services
We use third-party services to run the App, including:
- Google Firebase (authentication and cloud database).
- Google Mobile Ads (AdMob) (ad delivery and ad-related measurement).
- Google ML Kit (on-device text recognition).
- Cloud OCR providers (only when cloud OCR is configured/enabled in the app build).
These providers may process data according to their own privacy policies.
4. OCR and Photo Processing
Nutrition label scanning may run on-device. If cloud OCR is enabled in a build configuration, photos may be transmitted to a configured OCR endpoint (for example, Google Cloud Vision) and processed there.
5. Advertising and Tracking
We use ad services that may collect device-level data for ad delivery, analytics, and advertising measurement. On iOS, where required, tracking-related access is governed by Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework and your device settings.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
6. Data Retention
We keep data for as long as needed to provide the App and comply with legal obligations. You can request deletion of your account data by contacting us.
7. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure.
8. Your Choices
- You can stop using the App at any time.
- You can manage camera/photo permissions in your device settings.
- You can manage ad personalization settings on your device/platform.
- You can request access or deletion of account data by contacting us.
9. Children's Privacy
The App is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
10. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed in countries other than your own, where our service providers operate.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version here and update the "Last updated" date above.
